How to use Claude for Instagram: your automations, your link in bio and your carousels in one sentence
Connect Claude to your Instagram with SocialMaker and ask in one sentence for your auto-replies, your link in bio and your carousels. Steps, examples, limits.

If you already use Claude to write your captions or brainstorm content, you know the drill: it gives you the perfect text, and then you have to open Instagram, copy, paste and set everything up by hand. As of October 13, 2026, that changed: with the SocialMaker connector, Claude can do the work inside your account.
In this guide you'll see what Claude can do with your Instagram (and what it can't), how to connect it step by step, and 12 requests to copy for your kind of business: content creators, English teachers, real estate agents and coaches.
This isn't a passing trend: in a Constant Contact survey of 3,340 small businesses in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia and New Zealand, 42% already use AI to create content, mostly emails and social posts (Constant Contact, 2026). And what creators want most from an AI assistant that works for them is to take over repetitive tasks: 51%, according to an Adobe survey of more than 16,000 creators (Adobe, 2025).
Can Claude manage your Instagram?
Not on its own. Claude doesn't get into your Instagram account by itself: it works with the apps you connect, which Claude calls connectors (Claude Help Center). SocialMaker is one of them: it connects officially to your Instagram and Facebook (we're a Meta Tech Provider) and gives Claude the tools to work there, only with the permissions you choose.
You feel the difference every day. Instead of asking for a text to paste yourself, you ask for the result: “When someone comments GUIDE on my reel, DM them my free guide: yoursite.com/guide.” Claude builds the automation in your account, shows it to you and asks before turning it on.
Animation: the same automation done two ways. By hand in the Studio it's 8 steps: New automation, Start from scratch, Comment on a post, Select the post, Add word, your reply comment, the delivery message and Activate automation. With Claude it's one sentence: Claude creates the automation turned off, asks whether to turn it on, and with a yes it goes live.
What Claude can do on your Instagram with SocialMaker
| You ask for | What it does in your account |
|---|---|
| Auto-replies | Creates and edits automatic replies to comments and DMs on Instagram and Facebook, and to Instagram stories: the public reply, the DM with a button, your link, your PDF guide or your WhatsApp. It also shows you the ones you have and turns them off or on. |
| Your link in bio | Picks one of the 80 designs for your link in bio or designs one just for you, with your colors, photos and buttons, and, if you ask, shows it to you before applying it. It can also tell you how many visits it got. |
| Carousels | Designs your carousels from scratch with the full editor and saves them as drafts in your Studio. |
| Your booking calendar | Sees your open slots, books appointments or lessons, blocks time and changes your services and hours in your booking calendar. |
| Menus and catalogs | Builds your catalog, portfolio or digital menu with your products, projects and prices, with the button to message you on WhatsApp. |
| Your files | If you give it photos, PDFs or videos, it gives you a link to upload them to your library in two taps (what it creates in the chat it uploads itself), and then puts them where they belong: the PDF in an automation, the video in a carousel. |
And what it never does: it doesn't read the messages or comments you receive, it doesn't publish posts, reels or stories on its own, and it never sees your passwords. Plus, automations only reply to people who commented or messaged you first.

What you need to connect it
- A Claude account. The connector works on every Claude plan (on Team and Enterprise, the organization's admin adds it); on the free plan you can add one custom connector (Claude Help Center).
- SocialMaker on the Pro or Max plan. The connector is included, and what Claude does for you doesn't use your AI credits. See SocialMaker plans and pricing.
- Your Instagram or Facebook connected to SocialMaker, through the official Instagram or Facebook window: we never ask for your password.
- Your link in bio created in the Studio, if you want Claude to design it: you create it once by picking a design, and from there Claude can change it or design one just for you.
How to connect Claude to your Instagram, step by step
Connect your Instagram to SocialMaker
Create your account, go to Automations and tap Connect my Instagram. If you also sell on Facebook, connect your Page.
Add SocialMaker in Claude
On claude.ai or the desktop app, go to Customize → Connectors (on some accounts it's under Settings → Connectors), tap + Add → Add custom connector, enter the name SocialMaker and the address https://socialmaker.ai/mcp, and confirm.
Give it permission
Claude opens SocialMaker so you can sign in (if it doesn't open on its own, tap Connect next to SocialMaker), and you choose, area by area, what Claude can do: View and edit, View only or None. If you want it to use a specific post, like your latest reel, also set Posts to View only: it starts at None. Tap Allow.
Ask in a chat
Open a new chat, tap + → Connectors, turn on SocialMaker and type what you need.
If a button is named slightly differently, it's because Claude is updating that screen: look for Connectors and the option to add a custom one. You add it once from your computer, and then you can also use it in the Claude mobile app. To see every screen, check the step-by-step guide to connect Claude, and everything it can do on the Claude for Instagram page.
What Claude will be able to do
“Create an automation for the word GUIDE”It does it
“Use it on my latest reel”It can't see it
“Change the colors of my link in bio”It does it
“Design me a 5-slide carousel”It does it
“Book a trial lesson on Thursday at 6”It does it
“Read my messages and comments”Never
Tap the permissions to see what changes.
12 requests (prompts) to copy for your business
Copy them as they are and swap the word, link or hours for yours. Claude asks before turning on an automation, deleting something or canceling an appointment; for your link in bio and carousels, ask it to “show it to me before applying it.”

How to ask so it gets it right the first time
- Give it the exact word and where. “When someone comments GUIDE on my latest reel” works better than “reply to people who ask.”
- Give it your links and files. The address of your guide, your shop or your WhatsApp; if it's a PDF or a photo, Claude gives you a link to upload it to your library.
- Ask for a preview. With your link in bio and carousels, saying “show it to me first” lets you review before applying.
- Review before turning it on. Claude creates automations turned off (they stay in Drafts) and asks: read it and say “yes” when it's how you want it.
- Ask for several public replies. When the reply comment changes instead of repeating the same sentence, Instagram is less likely to see it as spam. We explain why in how to avoid getting blocked for repeating the same comment.

Claude alone vs. Claude with SocialMaker
- Writing your captions and ideas: Claude does it alone, nothing to connect.
- Creating an automation on your Instagram: alone, Claude explains the steps and you do them; with SocialMaker, it builds it in your account.
- Your link in bio and carousels: alone, it gives you ideas or text; with SocialMaker, it designs them in your account and shows them to you first if you ask.
- Booking appointments: alone, it can't; with SocialMaker, it books in your calendar and respects your hours.
- Replying to customers instantly, even when you're away: that's your automations' job, day and night. Claude helps you set them up.
It comes up a lot in forums. “Since I sell a product I think it’s useful for me to engage and ultimately try to sell these people and it’s hard while getting so many DMs,” one seller wrote on Reddit. Those repeated messages are exactly what an automation handles best, and now you can ask Claude for one in a single sentence.
Can you connect Claude to Instagram?
Yes, with SocialMaker. You add SocialMaker as a connector in Claude and, since SocialMaker connects officially to your Instagram and Facebook (it's a Meta Tech Provider), Claude can build your auto-replies, design your link in bio and carousels, and manage your bookings, with the permissions you give it.
Do I need to pay for Claude Pro?
No. The connector works on every Claude plan (on Team and Enterprise, the organization's admin adds it); on the free plan you can add one custom connector. What you do need is SocialMaker's Pro or Max plan.
Can Claude post to my Instagram?
No. Claude doesn't publish posts, reels or stories: it creates automations, designs, carousels and bookings in your SocialMaker. Carousels stay as drafts in your Studio so you can review them.
Does Claude read my Instagram messages?
No. We never give it the comments or messages you receive, or your passwords. If you give it Posts permission, it sees the text, type, date, link and number of likes and comments of each post (not the comments themselves), to choose which one an automation works on.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. You add it once from claude.ai or the desktop app, and then you can also use it in the Claude app for iPhone or Android.
Does it use my AI credits?
No. What Claude does for you through the connector doesn't use your SocialMaker AI credits.
Is it safe?
Yes. SocialMaker connects to Instagram and Facebook officially, you choose what Claude can see or change in each area, and you can disconnect it anytime in Settings → Connected apps. That's what Anthropic recommends: only connect services you trust and review the permissions they ask for (Claude Help Center).
What is a Claude connector (MCP)?
It's how Claude works with other apps: you add it once, give it permission, and from then on it uses them for you right in the chat. Technically, SocialMaker is a remote MCP server, added with the address https://socialmaker.ai/mcp.
Can I use ChatGPT instead of Claude?
For now, SocialMaker connects with Claude. We're working on connecting other AI assistants.
Claude already knew how to write your posts; now it can also get the work done in your account. If you sell on Instagram, start with the automation for your next reel: create your SocialMaker account, connect Claude and ask in one sentence.
