How to Make Money From Home in 2027: Up to $3,000 a Month Automating Other Businesses' Social Media

Two real ways to make money from home with SocialMaker: automate Instagram and Facebook for businesses for a monthly fee, and the affiliate program.

Published on November 4, 2026 10 min read
A Latin American woman in her early thirties, with wavy brown hair and a cream sweater, smiles as she checks a message on her phone next to her computer at her kitchen table, with her kids' drawings on the fridge.

Almost every business that sells on Instagram has the same problem: people write “price?”, “is this available?”, “do you ship?” dozens of times a day, and they can't keep up. According to the Sprout Social Index, 73% of people will buy from a competitor if a brand doesn't respond on social media (Sprout Social, 2025). That problem is your opportunity: you can solve it from home, for several businesses at once, and get paid every month to do it.

Here are two real ways to make money from home in 2027 with SocialMaker: offering businesses in your city (or in any country) social media that answers on its own, and the affiliate program, which pays you for every business you refer. With the math done and no magic promises: what to charge, what to deliver and how to land your first clients.

How much can you earn?

What businesses want (and almost nobody offers)

A small business doesn't need a $1,000-a-month agency. It needs something simpler: no one who asks goes unanswered, its posts go out on time and whoever asks for the catalog gets it instantly. That's exactly what you set up with SocialMaker in one afternoon per business:

  • Auto-replies on Instagram and Facebook: whoever comments “PRICE” on a post gets the price list, the catalog or the booking page by DM, with a button, day and night.
  • Messages and comments that answer themselves for the usual questions (hours, shipping, location).
  • Scheduled posts weeks in advance, carousels included.
  • A link in bio with their booking calendar, so whoever asks can book or buy without waiting for a reply.
  • A digital catalog or menu with ordering through WhatsApp, for restaurants and shops.
  • The dates that sell in their country, prepared ahead of time (there's a marketing calendar for each country).
A young Mexican man of about twenty-six, with curly hair and a denim shirt, laughs as he answers a message on his phone next to his computer, in a café in Oaxaca with the cathedral in the background.
Everything runs from your phone or computer: from home or from anywhere.

You don't need to know how to code or design. Automations, the link in bio and the booking page are all set up in the Studio, with ready-made templates by type of business. If you've never done it, start with how to automate Instagram DMs and the 40 auto-reply examples to copy.

What to charge

Charge for the result (messages answered and orders coming in), not for your hours. These ranges are a good starting point for a small business:

PackageWhat's includedPrice per month
BasicAuto-replies on Instagram and Facebook, tweaks every month$80 to $120
FullAll of the above, plus a link in bio with booking, scheduled posts, 4 carousels and a catalog$200 to $350
SeasonalA campaign for a big date (Mother's Day, Black Friday)$50 to $150 per campaign

For reference: guides for Instagram automation agencies talk about $100 to $600 a month per small client (CreatorFlow, 2026), and in Latin America, a full-time community manager in Mexico earns between 14,000 and 18,000 Mexican pesos a month (Coderhouse). You offer part of that work, which also runs on its own, for a lot less.

The math: from $500 to $3,000 a month

SocialMaker's Max plan costs $39 a month and lets you connect up to 5 accounts: the Instagram and Facebook of 5 different businesses, with unlimited automations and a link in bio with a booking calendar for each one. Here's how the numbers work out:

ScenarioYou chargeYou payYou keep per month
5 businesses on the basic package ($100)$500$39 (Max)$461
5 businesses on the full package ($300)$1,500$39 (Max)$1,461
10 businesses on the full package ($300), with 2 Max accounts$3,000$78 (2 Max)$2,922

What if a sixth business comes along? Don't hold back: open another Max account with a different email and you get 5 more spots. That doubles how many businesses you can take on, and what you earn, for $39 more a month. And if you end up managing many more businesses and would rather have them all in one account, write to us at [email protected]: we'll put together a plan built for your agency.

Keep in mind: these numbers are examples, not a promise. What you earn depends on how many businesses you land and how much you charge where you live.

How to land your first 5 clients

  1. Build your own case study

Set up the automations for a business you know (a relative's or a friend's) for free for a month. Example: your aunt's cake shop. At the end: ask for permission to show how many messages were answered automatically and how many orders came in.

  2. Look for businesses that post but don't reply

Browse the profiles in your area and look for comments with no answer. Those businesses already know they have the problem. Example: a salon with 40 “price?” comments left unanswered.

  3. Message them with something specific

Skip the “do you need a social media manager?” line. Example: “I saw that 23 people asked about the price on your last reel. I can set up an auto-reply that sends them your price list instantly. Want me to show you how it works on your account?”

  4. Offer a short trial

One week with a single automation, on the post with the most comments. Once the owner sees the messages going out on their own, the decision is easy.

  5. Put everything in writing

What's included, how much it costs, when it's paid and what happens if someone wants to stop. One page is enough.

A Dominican consultant in her mid-thirties, with curly hair pulled back and a mustard blouse, shows her phone to the owner of a neighborhood bakery, a gray-haired man in an apron who smiles behind the counter.
Showing the automation working on their own account is more convincing than any presentation.

Learn how: step-by-step guides, with Claude or ChatGPT on your side

Never used SocialMaker? You don't need a course. The help center has step-by-step guides, with animations, for everything you're going to offer your clients:

And the best part: you don't have to do it all by hand. Connect Claude or ChatGPT to your SocialMaker account (with Pro or Max) and ask for what you need in your own words, on whichever business's account you name: it builds the automations, designs the carousels, adjusts the link in bio, schedules the posts and tells you how each one did. Before turning on an automation or publishing anything, it checks with you. That's how you run 5 or 10 businesses from a chat:

  • Prompt for Claude or ChatGPTAn automation
On Sunrise Bakery's account, when someone comments ORDER on their latest reel, reply publicly and send them the catalog by DM with a button. Have it turn itself off on December 24.
  • Prompt for Claude or ChatGPTA carousel
Design a 5-slide carousel for Northside Barbershop with the photos in their library, about this season's haircuts, and schedule it for Friday at 7 p.m.
  • Prompt for Claude or ChatGPTThe monthly report
Tell me how many messages the automations of each of my businesses sent this month, how many bookings they brought in and which one worked best.

The second way: the affiliate program

If you'd rather not manage businesses, you can also earn by recommending SocialMaker. You share your link with your community, your clients or your followers; whoever signs up through it gets their first month of Pro free, and you earn 20% of what they pay for 12 months (30% from your 10th customer on). We pay you every month through PayPal, wherever you live.

And the two ways work together: if a business you manage would rather have its own SocialMaker account, have them open it with your link. They pay you for the service, pay for their plan and also leave you a commission every month. All the details are on the affiliate program page.

Put together your proposal with Claude or ChatGPT

Either one can help you prepare what you'll show each business:

  • Prompt for Claude or ChatGPTYour proposal
I want to offer businesses in [your city] a monthly auto-reply service for Instagram and Facebook. Write me a one-page proposal with 3 packages (basic, full and seasonal), what each one includes and its price: [your prices].
  • Prompt for Claude or ChatGPTThe first message
Write me a short, friendly message for the owner of [type of business] who has lots of unanswered comments on Instagram. It shouldn't sound like spam, and it should make a specific offer.
  • Prompt for Claude or ChatGPTThe monthly report
With this month's data from my client: [messages answered, people who asked for the catalog, appointments or orders], write me a short, clear report to send them.

And if you connect Claude or ChatGPT to SocialMaker, they'll also build each business's automations and carousels in your account: the step by step is in how to connect Claude to Instagram.

Mistakes that cost you clients

  • Promising sales: promise what you control (no one goes unanswered, posts go out on time). Sales also depend on the product and the price.
  • Paying for a client's own account with your card: if the business has its own account, they pay for it. That way you don't lose your affiliate commission and the business stays in control.
  • Asking for passwords by message: the business connects its account on a call with you, or gives you access securely.
  • Sending mass messages to find clients: reach out to a few well-chosen businesses with something specific. Mass messaging ends in blocks.
  • Not showing results: send a short report every month. It's what keeps them paying you.
Do I need experience to get started?

No. If you know how to use Instagram, you can learn to set up an automation in SocialMaker in an afternoon. Practice first on your own account or a friend's.

How much time does each business take?

Setting everything up the first time takes a few hours. After that, the replies run on their own and your job is to fine-tune, schedule posts and send the monthly report.

How many businesses can I manage with one plan?

With Max you connect up to 5 accounts, each with its own Instagram, Facebook, link in bio and booking calendar. For the sixth business, open another Max account with a different email. If you manage many more, write to us and we'll put together an agency plan.

Can I work with businesses in other countries?

Yes. Everything is done online, and SocialMaker is available in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French.

How do I get paid from the affiliate program?

Through PayPal, once a month, when you've reached at least $25 in commissions.

Is the commission forever?

You earn on every payment your client makes during their first 12 months.

Pick one of the two ways (or both), land your first case study and show it off. In 2027, businesses will still need the same thing: someone who answers their customers on time. That someone can be you, from home.
